Josh Caldecourt's Pledge Page for Team in Training

Help Me Run Leukemia Out of This World!!! ************************************************************************************** Hey Everyone!! As I've probably already told you, I'm planning to run a marathon to raise funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS). The LLS has taken a large part in the fight against blood-related cancers for over 50 years. Survival rates for children with leukemia have gone from 5% to 81% in the last 25 years. That's an incredible gift of life to so many people!! I've committed to participating in the LLS's Team in Training program by running a marathon (all 26.2 miles of it!!) in on June 21st, 2003 as well as raising my goal of $5000 to support this worthy cause. The LLS gives a full 76% of the funds received directly to cancer research and the support of those affected by blood-related cancers. It's been a goal of mine for several years to run a marathon. When I heard about the opportunity to meet that goal while benefiting others I was thrilled!! As an inspirational tool and to show the participants just how they truly are helping, Team in Training has given each member a patient honoree whom they represent. My honoree's name is Gary. He was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia on Labor Day of 1999. He's a resident of Longmont, CO (the town where I work) and is in real estate. He's been through seven rounds of chemotherapy and is currently in remission. Gary is on a waiting list for a bone marrow transplant. He's been able to live and work towards regaining his strength because of the support of organizations like Team in Training. During the race I will be wearing a bracelet with his name on it. So when I get tired and discouraged (and I will, I'm only human!!) I can just look down and see his name. Compared to what he's been through, my life, my training, my goals are mere child's play. It helps keep things in perspective and reminds me not to dwell on myself. I've been so blessed with health!! Now I want to take that blessing and pass it to others!! Please help me in my quest to serve others and meet my personal goals! And remember, all donations are 100% tax deductible. If you're interested in supporting me please click on the "Donate" link for further information. Thanks for your financial, emotional, and spiritual support!! By the way, if you look at Stats, you'll see that I haven't received any money yet. Well, this is not true but the system is not letting me update that stat. |
